Calculator data
Calculator inputs and results are processed locally in your browser. A small draft may be stored in localStorage so an interrupted session can resume; it expires after seven days and can be removed immediately with Reset or by clearing site data.
Do not enter Social Security numbers, bank credentials, tax-account passwords, or other sensitive identifiers. The calculators do not request them.
Approximate state suggestion
The optional state suggestion calls a same-site endpoint that reads Cloudflare’s coarse region code and returns only a two-letter U.S. state when available. It does not return an IP address to the page and you can always override the suggestion.
The suggestion is not proof of residence, domicile, work location, or tax jurisdiction.
Analytics and operational logs
GigTakeHome uses Google Tag Manager to load tags configured in the site container, plus Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand aggregate page visits, basic site usage, and how the interface is used. Google and Microsoft may process identifiers, device and browser information, approximate location, and interaction data under their own terms and policies. Clarity provides heatmaps and session recordings; its web service masks input-box content and numeric values by default. These analytics tags are not used to read calculator inputs or collect tax-account credentials.
The calculator may send a bounded set of GA4 interaction events: calculator_start, calculator_result, full_breakdown_click, calculator_resume_result, share_card_created, pwa_install_prompt_shown, pwa_installed, and internal_navigation_click. Calculator events carry only a calculator identifier/kind, entry mode or return-age bucket, UI surface, card size, or install method as applicable. Internal navigation events carry only source and destination route identifiers, a recommendation or navigation role, calculator kind when relevant, and the interface surface. No event includes earnings, expenses, mileage, tax results, state, fuel price, form values, or free-text input. The install preference (including a 30-day prompt suppression and whether the app was installed) remains on this device and is not sent as a financial or identity signal. Microsoft Clarity custom events are not used; calculator forms and result areas use Clarity masking.
Cloudflare may also process request metadata needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp, and security signals, under its applicable services terms. Short-lived operational logs may be used for security, reliability, and aggregate performance.
Email and external links
If you email us, your email provider and ours process the message and address. We use it to answer, investigate reports, and maintain necessary correspondence.
Links to IRS, EIA, payment providers, and platforms lead to services with their own privacy practices.
